Fourth of July in Seward!

We started celebrating the day before when our good friends, the Jamesons, came over.

No, we didn't have hamburgers on the grill - we had a taco bar.

I figured everyone would have hamburgers on the actual fourth, so we went with Mexican!

Donna brought two delicious and patriotic desserts!

The next morning, we headed into Seward for Church on the Square.

There was a good crowd for the early morning, and the music and message were very good.

Seward is Nebraska's Fourth of July City, so there was much going on!

Just keep on heading north to get to the only other town of Seward!

There was a very large crowd throughout the town, some coming from several states away!

So many vendors!

 Almost 200 cars on display!

We listened to a very patriotic band concert!

We were tired and had too much sun by the time the parade started at 4:00, but we

stayed for it!  It was a great ending to a very fun day!

We once again enjoyed a magnificent fireworks display put on by some neighbors

at the top of the hill!  We had a great view from our deck!

I'm proud to be an American!

Rachel and David's Big Move!

The big news is that Rachel and David's family decided to move to Nebraska!

Lots of reasons why, but we are so incredibly glad that they will be closer!  So what was

originally supposed to be a visit turned into a permanent stay!

They have been living in our basement, bought a house, sold a house, got a nursing job - and

all of that in the last month.

Whew......it has been crazy!

My strawberry patch was just starting to produce when they arrived and once they were ripe,

Elenna and Nathan had so much fun picking them!

Enjoying being a grandma!

Isaac teaching Nathan how to blow bubbles!

Sweet Sisters!

They are closing on their house in several weeks, and they will be most glad to be

in their home with room to spread out!

And we will be getting back to school!!

Nacho Table!

Courtney and Dennis had done a Nacho Table at his parents' house over Christmas,

so she wanted to recreate the fun experience here.

It was a mess!

First the foil!  We had to put an extra leaf in our table to accommodate everyone!

Next comes the chips!

Now all the toppings go in the center!

Then everyone add the taco meat and beans to the pile of chips in front of them!

Isaac really got into this!

Not much left over!  Clean up was super easy!

Thanks, Courtney, for suggesting such a fun idea!

Memorial Weekend - 2021!

We had all of our family here for Memorial Day weekend, except for David, who was

unable to get leave from the Army.  We were so disappointed that he was not able to join us

but we had a rousing good time anyway.

We had a cold front move in right before everyone arrived - it was chilly!!!!!!

Jonathan was the first to fly in.  It was a beautiful warm day, the last one we had!

Courtney flew in the next day!  Good thing we are only about 15 minutes from the airport!

We went straight to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, La Paz.

A quick trip to the Omaha Zoo by Joe and the boys, Courtney and Jonathan - Rachel and crew
were scheduled to arrive later that afternoon so I stayed home to welcome them.

The zoo was very crowded and very nippy!

Rachel and family drove all the way from Tucson with their three children and they did really well!

More on their story in another blog post!

So with all here that were able to come, we had a great time!

Isaac and Nathan!

Courtney and Kinsley!  Both in purple!

Jonathan's thin blood finally got to him on the chilly days!

Frisbee game in progress!

The boys were so thrilled to have their older siblings all together again!

Poor Nathan just sacked out one afternoon - so funny!

We all had such a wonderful time together, and, of course, the weather warmed
right up after Courtney and Jonathan flew back home!
