We had "planned" to head back to Lincoln in early April, but with all the scare of
Covid 19 at the time, we thought it was more prudent to stay put where we were
rather than to risk traveling.
But as time went on, states were loosening up, and we decided we had better
get on the road when we could!
As usual, when we travel, we take our time, and stop at a few selected interesting
places on the way. This time was no different, plus we had Willie, the dog
with us this time.
He did fabulous! He just slept at the boys feet for the majority of the trip!
One of our favorite stops each time we head west on I-40 is Groom, Texas, where
the massive 19 story, 2.5 million pound steel cross rises up from the flatlands.
We start seeing it about 20 miles away.
It's a wonderful place to stop, stretch your legs, and have a quick lunch.
Willie loved the cool, green grass and we could barely get him to get back in the truck!
We spent the night at a really great KOA just west of Oklahoma City.
The boys enjoyed a pizza, and we loved seeing all of the green grass and trees!
We definitely were not in the Southwest any more!
The next night we stayed at another favorite KOA in Salina. Everything is based on
The Wizard of OZ - imagine that!
They had a huge, inflatable bounce pad, which was a great way for the boys to
burn off some energy!
And Willie enjoyed the green grass, too!
