Random Life

Nothing very exciting to document, just random life as it comes!

The boys have had fun playing football out on what we call the "Sports Field".  It's bigger

than a football field, and doesn't have a tree on it, so it's great for football and any type of lawn game.

It's right next to our neighboring farmer's field.

Willie, the 15 year old dog, likes to go out with the boys and just sniff around the field.

Isaac had an orthodontic check up - back in a year!  I wonder when he will stop growing?!!

We had our deck power washed by our painter, and then the rain set in.

Now, we're just waiting for it to dry out so the stain can be applied.

Years of old stain and dirt are gone - what  a difference!

I've actually been making some sourdough bread again, per the numerous

requests of my family!

We went out to Rachel's house for an afternoon of s'mores in their fire pit!

And to end this post, I will leave you with another glorious Nebraska sunset!

The Trees are Turning!

Autumn beauty is all around!

Fall Trip to the Omaha Zoo!

The weather had cooled down, so we were all ready to make a trip to the zoo when

our schedules allowed.  We had a great time!

The Desert Dome is such an imposing structure when you first walk in.

The aquarium is always a favorite, and we all got a chuckle seeing one of the scientists/veterinarians inside with the penguins.......wearing a mask!

The flowers were still just lovely, and knowing that a freeze will take them out

any day made me want to take pictures of them!

We decided this little elephant had to be in a "time out".  All the other ones were
outside, but too far away to get a really good picture.

Of course, we had to make sure we fed the fish!

We had some extra time before our Imax movie began, so we went through the
Desert Dome after all.
Not all that exciting for us to see javelina and rattlesnakes!  Both of which we
had on our back porch several times when we lived in Arizona!

Those are just some highlights!

It was a great homeschool fieldtrip!

Autumn Days

The basketball hoop was finished several weeks ago and is getting lots of practice!

Go Joshua!

What technique!

Isaac and Nathan made an elaborate train set when they were over visiting.

The leaves on the trees are just barely beginning to turn.

The neighboring farmer has harvested his field of soybeans.

The sunsets have been glorious!

The grandchildren are having fun getting ready for cooler temps also!

They now have chickens are enjoying the responsibility of that!

So that's what's going on in our little corner of the world!

Growing Up

How did this happen?

This young man is preparing our dinner on the grill?

Way to go, Isaac!

Not Much Summer Left!

Summer is waning.  Even though it's supposed to be in the 90's today, the mornings

are certainly cooler, and crisper temperatures are on the way.

My pots of flowers have been spectacular this year, and I want to capture their

beauty before the cold takes them out.

Most of my perennials have already stopped blooming, but the annuals are still going strong!

This is a beautiful Nebraska sunset - we have had quite a bit of smoke from the Northwest,

which caused very intensely red sunsets.

The boys are putting together a basketball hoop today!

We bought the same one several years ago at Costco in Arizona, but just didn't have the room to move

it up to Nebraska, so we passed it on to some friends.  Our neighbor here, had an old hoop

that they were wanting to get rid of so they gave it to us.  The boys have enjoyed that

over the past two years, but its days are basically over - it got well-used up!

So we bought the same hoop as before from Costco and they are having the joy

of putting this very sturdy, and substantial hoop together..........again!!

That's an update for today, 20 years after 9/11.

Lord, have mercy on our nation, and may we be united once again.
